Problem
The Lakeview neighborhood’s history as a freshwater marsh means that flooding is a persistent problem: the ground has subsided, the water table is high, and the soils are too saturated to allow rainwater infiltration.

Proposal
The project proposes a kit of parts that can be used to re-establish a managed marsh ecology on public streets and alleys and on private house lots. These measures, which include grading, planting, and paving tactics, add up to a network where water can be carried and stored safely on the ground’s surface: the network adds capacity to the existing underground drainage system.
