District


New Orleans is divided into eight subsidiary districts based on pump location and capacity. The Sewerage and Water Board refers to these districts as Drainage Pump Service Areas (DPS) and numbers them according to the specific pumps by which they are drained. Districts are defined by physical structures: levees, canals, pipes, and drainage ways.

These projects address specific sites and conditions but could be expanded to include other examples of the same infrastructure types.
